Jr questions

I want to replace and find a few items for my Genesis Jr. First is the regulator and hose, it currently has a longer hose than what I consider necessary so i want to buy a new one, what do i look for, a certain gas pressure or any one for a propane gas grill? I also would like to replace the tank holder/scale, would one of the newer ones work? On the same note i would like to raise the tank holder up some as my backyard is kinda uneven between where i store my grill and were i use it (i have to store it as it would disappear quickly) so having it up a little higher would be a plus.
Lastly i need to know the size of the end caps on the frame and were i can get the tool holders or what i can use in it's place. Thanks!

1. Look for one that is rated for 11"WC, NOT Low Pressure (1PSI is 3x too much), NOT High Pressure, and NOT adjustable. I assume you are after a QCC1 tank connector, too. I would link one but you need to know whether your manifold connection is 1/8"NPT or 3/8" flare.

2. The newer tank holder/scale is commonly offered as a replacement for the older model which is obsolete, so my vote is yes, the newer one will work. If you go to grillparts.com or eReplacements.com and pull up the p/n for the new scale it will likely tell you what models it will fit. I don't see why you couldn't raise it up as required.

3. This is what I used for endcaps. The texture isn't quite the same but I replaced all 4 of them. I'm assuming the Jr. has 1-1/4" square tubing frame rails.

4. Tools holders can probably be obtained from other members in the forum, or possibly grillparts.com or eReplacements.com

Good luck, and thanks for doing your part to keep these vintage Webers on the road!

Here is a 3' hose and regulator that would work. Not sure if you want shorter than that or not. You can probably find a 2' on on Amazon.

I would imagine you can swap in a newer style tank holder/scale.

You could probably use the tool holder clips that are on the Genesis 1000 grills.

Parts for those Jr grills are extremely hard to find.

You ain't kidding on hard to find, I know some parts are unique to the Jr and some cross over from other grills knowing which ones is the trick! Thanks for the info on the regulator that helps a lot!

I am kind of sentimental about the classic nature of the Jr. Does your grill have the stainless metal clips that hold tools? If not, they are the same as the ones commonly used on the Genesis x000 grills as Bruce said. But, if you want to use the newer style plastic end caps, any Silver/Gold one will work. Definitely a more practical method, just not true to original.

Jon, is the Jr the same width as the Gold and Silver B's? I think it would be narrower and maybe Silver A end caps would work. Not sure about that, but just guessing.

Based on the fact that we saw here a Jr. modified to accept a Genesis 1000 control panel (and a THIRD burner) I think they are the same width front to back. They are not as wide, of course, left to right.

With the Silver A/Spirit 2 burner they went in a different direction and made the grill narrower front to back. Maybe to allow just two burners to provide better heat coverage. I have thought that with the Jr. that wide space between the two burners may have contributed to its less than stellar cooking reputation. Kind of like a three burner Genesis being run on indirect all the time.

I will go measure mine in my yet to be completed workshop.

I just measured. A Genesis Jr. and the 1-5, x000 & Silver/Gold/Platinum are all 18 inches front to back measuring from the outer edge of the two frame bars. A x000 Genesis firebox is about 24 inches left to right at the frame level. A Jr. is only 18 inches.

A Silver A/Spirit 2 burner is only a bout 15 1/2 inches front to back. I didn't measure the left to right, but I know the grates are about 21" wide. So the Jr. was almost square while the Silver A was more proportionately similar to the larger 3-burner Genesis.
