I‘m somewhat new to charcoal and already had briquet-sized rocks, brick pieces, paper, plastic, metal, wire, you name it.Consider yourself lucky. Very, almost one off, lucky.

Agreed. I get small rocks fairly frequently in any brand of lump, and I've gotten probably 0.5-1 lb. chunk of klinker almost certainly off a kiln wall.Consider yourself lucky. Very, almost one off, lucky.
And here’s the rub...do I spend the $$$$ associated with lump to get the bag that has no foreign material in it, or do I save money buying the tried and true Kxxx and awesome meat to get the same repeatable cook. Every. Single. Time. ???I've found a metal shelving bracket in lump, among other things. Was shiny, too. I have yet to find anything but lump in JD.
funny, i still haven't noticed. i dump it into the KF hard plastic storage container and pour out from there. i guess i should pay better/more attention. thanks!I was today day's old when I noticed the 35 pound bag of JD has a handle on the side of the bag. Only took three bags of this for me to notice.
