It's been a weird Winter

Dear Board,

I still check in from time to time but I haven't done much outside cooking this Winter. That's due to a lot of reasons but mostly due to me being lazy.

Last weekend I made a nice turkey breast on the Genesis. I only cook for myself and my wife, so almost anything I cook results in leftovers. We had two meals of roast turkey with pan gravy but there was still a good bit left.

Today I went inside and made turkey noodle soup with what was left.

If my car inspection due next week doesn't cost me an arm or a leg I hope to get a WSM 18.5 in time for the real cooking season so you might be seeing more of me.

Regards,

Tim Murphy

You know me better than that!

You sir are going to love the WSM!

Dear Rolf,

You know the only reason I want a smoker is to eat more delectable grub. And you also know me well enough to know that I need to eat more salad and fruits and vegetables so I wonder why you keep encouraging me to get the WSM? ;)

What? Is smoked turkey meat unhealthy? ;)

You can cook healthy on a WSM. Kim and I do it all the time! And for cheat days, well my friend you are in for a treat!

18.5"? Go for the 22.5..I don't know anyone who's ever said "I wish I would have gotten the smaller one."

Hey Tim,

Since it's just you and your wife, the 18.5 WSM should suit your needs just fine (unless you want to cook 5-6 racks of ribs, in that case then get the 22.5). I bought the 18.5 last fall and it suits our needs perfectly. And we are a family of 4.

Anyway you'll love the 18.5 WSM!

I can sympathize with ya, bud!

In Wisconsin - it's been a pretty mild Winter so far, with some really wild ups & downs.
Fortunately, some of the nicest weather has coincided with WEEKENDS!

On lousy / lazy weekends - Like you, I've been cooking indoors: Big pot-O-Chili, Red Beans and Rice, Stew, & last weekend Beef Bourguignon (but it's still been TASTY)

On nicer weekends - fired-up the Grill and occasionally the Smoker: Steaks, Burgers, Spares

You just have to adapt and go with the flow...
