ISO Genesis 2000 LP Manifold, LP scale/holder and panel (converting NG to LP)

I'm back! And I did end up finding a red lid in nice condition on fb marketplace, as well as a less rusty tank scale.

I got two questions however:

Is it normal for there to be red residue inside the lid? Previous owner claims it wasn't painted but it belonged to his older mother and she mentioned she was an artist so I guess I'm concerned about knowing whether it had proper heat resistant paint if it was painted.

Second, this tank scale I've acquired doesn't seem to be calibrating. I put an empty tank on to zero it at E but with a full tank the rod doesn't adjust. When I put pressure on the scale it basically remains wherever I place it. Is the spring tension kaput or am I doing this wrong? Pics attached.

Here it is by the way. Any tips on cleaning the Weber emblem? Is it something that can be replaced? The one on the old lid is pristine

Just exchange them. Or at worst pull this one off, degrease it will, hit it with paint, then put it on a sanding block finishing with 600-800 grit to polish off the raised areas. Hit it with high heat clear then put a little bead of high heat red RTV on the back, press it back on and it'll be there until you put a putty knife under it to take it off

As you can imagine the side panel bolts are pretty stuck. But where the lid connects near the handle I can either see OEM black paint or rust.

Just something looks strange to me. Doesn't mean there is paint there, just that perhaps this one was a bad finishing job at the factory. Just I've never seen an "over spray pattern like that.

Yeah out of an abundance of caution I guess, I swapped back on the original lid until I can get to the bottom of this. I've got a one year old daughter that I'd hate to get exposed to anything if she eats anything from the grill.

I thought I saw a guy that works at Weber pop up a few times on these boards, can't recall his handle. Might he know if this could've occurred at the factory?

Maybe but IIRC he's pretty young. May not have even been born when that grill was made :D I think if you get one or both side panels off it will help determine anything

Managed to get it off. I'm assuming if it wasn't painted there would be no black?

Your pictures aren't the best, out in the sun would be better but I don't think that lid has been repainted. Now if you take the badge off and it's black underneath, that's another story.

You're right. Here moved it to the sun. And now that it's in natural light I can make out some red in the black. What are the signs I'm looking for if it was painted?

They coat the whole lid in black and then top coat it with whatever color. Sometimes the colored top coat will run or bleed over onto the black where it isn't necessarily intended. But it is usually inside the lid or in a place that doesn't show anyway.
