Considering this for trips. Is it a good deal?

It looks like an ok deal. It looks like it is in good shape and has the hose for a 20 lb tank.

Test the grill before buying. There is one gotcha you have to watch for. The regulator is integrated into the gas valve which is about a $55 part.

So fire it up and test it by changing temp to see how it goes?

Yes - if all looks good you should be ok.They are easy to rebuild and last a long time so there is not much downside

You're assuming I have mechanical abilities!

If the grates look in good shape and the burners fire up evenly then it is a decent deal. Not great, but good. If you want one, then as long as you won't have to invest in grates or burners, then go for it. If you are not in a big hurry, you might find a better deal if you wait.

The guy never got back to me, so I'm fairly sure I'm out of luck on that one. Oh well.
