Is this a April fools joke or real?

Looks like it has been well used, but still very collectible. If you are a kettle nut, it might be worth the possibility of getting pranked.

I think it’s somebody who has no clue what their grill is, and did five minutes of ‘research’ to come up with sucker bait.

It is a one touch platinum in an un-common color, with a very common crack in the table.

It's entirely within the realm of possibility that someone has replaced the kettle on a OTP. The brackets that attach the kettle to the frame are a different color, but I don't see any evidence of a handle that's been removed. And I agree, it's a color that doesn't do anything for me either.

Would a bowl not fit in an OTP with the handle strap in place? I swear the bowl on my SSP has a front handle strap…
I believe it will, and I think I have seen them that way, but I have always assumed they were retrofitted. The only way to tell, AFAIK, are the spot-welded mounting brackets. There are also apparent scars on the bowl in places that are out of the way for a OTP/Performer.

I don't know because mine is black, but it seems like it would be more work to mask that area off when applying the color, and for what reason? I might be wrong...I just don't know. If we could only see the inside of the bowl, see if it was bolted and not spot welded, that would be the definitive answer.
This is a closeup of a 22 inch performer at the dealer. Looks like the copper color is slightly over sprayed on the black bracket.
