Ique 110 On First Smoke?

Has anyone used an ATC on their first cook on a new WSM? I am planning to do some pulled pork this weekend, and I know that a new WSM can run a little hot. Should the Ique 110 be able to control the temps?

thanks

Yes. However, I recommend you learn to control temps without it before using it. It does act strange from time to time and you'll need the experience.

it will be fine, put the top vent open, and use the damper on the iq to #3 if its stays hot on ya back the iq off 1 more

Hey i forgot to mention dont clip your probe to your grate, instead use a wooden skewer in the meat or through a potatoe. Clipping to the metal grate conducts heat so the temp will be skewed

Jordon,

If your WSM runs hot, due to lack of 'gunk' ;) ... (think air leaks) , no ATC will correct that. Once that 'gunk' (or seasoning, as some call it...) has built up, then you're good to go.
