Induction Ranges

I agree with Ray, do it right the first time, since often having to do something twice ends up taking more time in the long run. Larry, that install looks better than some "pro" installs I've seen, great job!

I was a bit disappointed LOL. Because nothing in that kitchen is square or level. But the darn back splash is cut square. So I did my best to bridge the gaps but if you look carefully at the inside edge of the upper cabinet on the right you will see about 1/2" or so gap to the cabinet but on the left no gap yet between the counter top risers it's even and level. I have to figure out how to make that not show so blatantly. I'm thinking maybe hitting that space with a small wood 1/4 round and then so it doesn't look "off" put another 1/4 round on the other side. Both stained the same as the cabinets. On the right it will simply fill the gap but on the left it will simply balance the right. I'm thinking then the eye won't be drawn there as easily something like this

Keep a extended warranty on it, Parts are high and it's a complicated system, tec's want to throw a lot of parts at it. there is less heat lose with induction and very precise temps, you will get spoiled quickly.

Sadly because it's a floor model I could not buy the extended service with Costco. They offered to refund me, but this thing was $2400 and I took it home for $700. Wife and I thought about it and said the risk is worth it. It's under warranty for 2 years so we shall see. I guess worst case is I have to eat a repair after the 2 years? If it's overly expensive well heck I'm not really "buried" in it

Bummer. Went to Menards and they only had 15' long pieces. I only need maybe 2' total. Ugh. Can't even put something that link in my car

Or you can overcomplicate this by moving the upper right cabinets over by 1/2".
No, sometime in the next year or two I think I am gonna have it totally gutted and remodeled and have all the ills from the builder made right. I got some wood moldings both 1/4 round 9/16" and some corner ones IIRC 11/16". I'll decide what looks best, cut, fit, stain and attach with a little construction adhesive.
It will do until the hammers can swing.

When I installed my basement kitchen (from stratch) there was almost a 1/2" difference from the counter top height on either side of the range, most likely due to the unlevel concrete floor.
I corrected for this by shaving the bottom of the base cabinet on the right side of the range. Fortunately there was only one base cabinet to deal with.

Well, I think I have to officially learn to cook again. Funny thing on this induction stuff. Unlike gas there is no "visual" feedback on your cooking. And the speed of the thing while a great asset can work against you until you learn to work with it. So, now this is twice I've not realized just how hot the thing is. And had something "get away" on me. You don't see, hear or even feel much going on so you turn your back and poof, you've gone over.
I think I need to learn cooking sort of in "reverse". On gas range you habitually blast your pan with high flame, then adjust down as things come up. I think I will need to learn to do the reverse. Starting lower than I think it should be and working up if needed

OK doesn't look as bad now. I got some 11/16 quarter round in bare oak. Cut to fit, stained to match cabinets as best I could. I think it came out half decent. At least the eye is not drawn to the glaring poor construction :D1751232743109.png

OK did risotto (sort of cheating risotto) last night with a chicken breast in there. Daughter had tons of dental work done and needed some softer food. Well I didn't "ruin" anything but I will say this induction cooking is a learning experience! But, it's FUN! My rice got a bit of a socarrat or crust on the bottom. But, it was delish according to all who tried it.
So good daughter took it all home :D So I did another batch tonight but this time I did finish with butter and parmesano. DARN good! It will accompany some buttered green beans and my ribs noted earlier in pellet grill posts. I'm learning this induction thing and I AM having fun with it!
Funny how everything I see about Samsung appliances is negative but everyone I've bought in the last 10 years has been wonderful.......................so far knock wood.
