the idea of playing football inside a dome makes as much sense as playing baseball outside... i.e. Minnesota Vikings, Minnesota Twins.
Vikings play indoors while the Twins play outside, with rain delays, snow and cold temps at the start of the season...
Bud Grant came from the CFL to coach the Vikings and they played outdoors in cavernous Metropolitan Stadium, a venue feared by most visiting teams when the season neared its end and the snow began to swirl.

Then the Metrodome was built and the Vikings eventually hired Dennis Green. A giant living room occupied by a coach who looked like he was born to occupy a Barcalounger.

For the most part they've been irrelevant ever since.
