Ice Storm

We in the St Louis area got lucky. The really cold and icy weather was north of us. Spent some time in my basement as the tornado warnings passed. Had highs in the 60's, but a bit too windy and rainy to grill. Hope you all fare well.

Just got back from a visit to my cabinetmaker buddy’s shop and Costco, there are dozens of trees down everywhere! The temperature is up to about 40 and the ice is falling like tears from a broken hearted lover! Glad to get back inside. Now, I will install my “drop leaf” cookie sheet/cookbook/cocktail table. Pix to follow somewhere, probably ”just conversation”

Temp still around freezing mark here. Wind is "talkin"" loud too. Lots of trees still going down in the area and last news I saw they had to shut down a major N/S road out here on the west side of Rockford because a TV tower is in danger of falling and they had to evacuate homes and close down the road

@LMichaels @Timothy F. Lewis that's no good at all.

I spent about 90 minutes clearing the driveway. Temp has dropped 5 degrees in the last 2 hours, down to 15. It's stayed cold enough that the snow is dry, and even where the village plow left a 2' or more berm at the curb, it didn't really pack and moved fairly easily (glad we have a good snowblower.) Much to my surprise, the Twin Cities metro traffic map does not look like a parking lot, but I'm really not going anywhere until tomorrow morning (hardware repair 50 miiles away.)

After a short nap,the chainsaw straight across the street has stopped and the tree is almost gone. The BIG stuff? Some is still blocking roads but, nowhere I needed to go except for a route change to the woodshop.
the sad part is my shipment from Fruitawood has been delayed!!

As I type sun is now poking out, wind still raging and temps still chilly. Not brutally so, but chilly. But, now daughter is home with 2 sick babies (of course this after those same 2 little "angels" got me, my neighbor and wife sick LOL. Gotta love those little ones

Well, this just happened, in the last 5 minutes. Yeah, yeah, yeah, nothing like many of what you all get. But interesting for sure, for NorCal.

And now the sun it out.

That's a flat top grill, and everything on top of it has come down in the preceding 48 hours, 15-16" or so. NWS was actually pretty accurate overall.

I was in Chicago for work this week (just got home tonight) felt lucky that the nasty weather stayed north and west of where I was. Winter's coming to a close, hang in there everyone! We'll all be complaining about hot weather and a lack of rain before you know it ;)

72 yesterday. Lot of folks playing golf( doesn't anybodywork??🤣)...had to skip the 10th hole as the guys were installing new sprinklers. Dropped almost 30 degrees today to 46. Big steak dinner tonight with six friends coming over. Filet, twice baked potatoes and salad with my wife's homemade lemon vinaigrette dressing. Appetizers, dessert and wine TBD.0223231328_HDR.jpg
