No worries! Not sure when I’ll get to that project as that will be a keeper grill. Or a gift to my son, or maybe a wedding gift if some guy is ever crazy enough to marry one of my girls

At least they are in a good place. Time stopped for them in that temperature controlled indoor storage unit. I can't even imagine how much money he has spent on that storage unit over the last 10 years!

Yah, I can't imagine he will recoup a tenth of that money by selling them. Being AZ, I don't think the climate control part is all that significant, but just being out of the weather and sun for ten years is a big deal.

In case you're curious I just looked up his storage facility and did the math and it comes out to $14,040. I'm sure prices have gone up over time but still..
Impressive collection of first generation Genesis grills. If you have the extra money to spend on storage I'm sure it's nice to have and I can think of worse hobbies to spend $ on.

Yikes. A friend of mine owns several self-storage places and he even says that 9/10 are a total waste of people’s money. They cram a bunch of crap in then and pay a ton just for it to be out of sight out of mind. Especially the smaller ones. Those are his true cash crop. Pack em full and leave them for months and years on end.

Yah, I am sure they are money makers for owners. They are all over the place. Three new ones popped up within a few miles of my house over the last three years. My daughter rented one for a couple years and they always had them all rented out. I know someone who has held a unit for about two years now at $95/mo last I heard and if she sold everything, she might get $500 and all the personal stuff she owns could fit in a 5 cubit foot container. Just nuts.

oh yeah, and it’s never like storage wars when they default. He called me a couple times about grills but they’ve not panned out to anything I’m willing to pay him for.

He did once have a guy default with a mid 80s corvette. Not really desirable, and a total circus to get titled. Basically about broke even when he was finally able to sell it.
