The guy I went to see on Friday with the storage unit full of Genesis grills showed me his favorite that he restored over the years. I didn't see it in person because he keeps it at his the house unused. Very similar but it's a 5000 instead of a 4000.

Even though I'm not a big fan of the glass doors; I prefer an open cart, I must say that's an awesome grill. Seeing it is making me more inclined to buy the 4000.

Looks like it would cleanup nicely with new wood. The wood would be a challenge to make and an original handle in good condition would need to be found and copied.

If you get it I'd want you to think about it before deciding if you want to keep the serving tray or not.

The serving tray will go to @Josh Dekubber if I get the grill. I recall seeing a post of his a while back saying he was looking for them, and I don't really have a need for it. The right side hardware is a primary reason I'm considering the grill. The wood... yeah... the wood. Woodworking equipment may be in my not too distant future.

I joined this group several months ago only for information to help me resurrect my dilapidated Silver C... I have been deposited on very fertile ground.

Hanging around here will definitely open you up to the possibilities that are out there, not a bad thing.

I've got handles already made that will match up perfectly on that grill, you just have to find the correct stain. I'm just not willing to commit to making anything new at this point, maybe in the spring.

Yeah I was talking about the serving tray but you are definitely right. It needs a new lid handle.

Hey Cody, what do you think it would take to fix that? Make it look and function properly, not necessarily made pristine, just a good "driver".

A good scrubbing and a wire rack for the bottom and she’s back business.

That bottom tray is the worst thing that you can see from the pictures. Internals are cheap and easy if necessary to replace anything.

Wire racks don't collect dirt or water which is a good thing.

Those wire racks will last forever compared to the sheet metal tray that replaced them. The wire racks usually just need a little prep and a paint job to look brand new again.
