I will just leave this here

The Mica Black lids have arrived and they are both the deep charcoal gray that I anticipated them to be. As you can see in the photo, Weber part #90110 is clearly shown on the original boxes for both lids with the accompanying “Lid Assy Mica Black Gen Silver B/C” labeling. In ambient room lighting, there is no flake, fleck, or whiteness of any type to the naked eye. However, with a more intense artificial light source it becomes quite easy to see the sparkle of the mica in spite of how small the grains might be. I’m sure it would not be difficult at all to see some pop or color flop from black to gray in them on a sunny day. That’s about as far as I can go with my assessment on the whole discussion. Having gravitated almost exclusively to X000 restorations of late, I now mind myself in need of getting back into a couple of Silver B projects to use these new lids up after going down this rabbit hole.

I am curious to know how they have those... how they got them. Kind of crazy to me.
You can drop one of those lids on a Genesis 1000 if you want.

I agree. A brand new lid atop a X000 restoration would be a real cherry on top in my book

*edit - I suppose there is some added value in selling it as a Silver B since that is what it says on the sticker?

Those are beauties Tom, I'm slightly jealous. Now that you have them do you care to share where they came from?
Ed Young’s True Value. They’ve got some age on them for sure. They have he protruding studs that pass through the end caps which I believe puts them circa 1999 or older. I encourage anyone who might know otherwise to feel free to correct me on that if I’m wrong as I truly don’t know for certain.

1999 was before the Silver B came into being.
You are correct. I started digging after posting and the Silver B was introduced in 2000. Now I just need to figure out when the switchover to pre-cast speed nut studs occurred to narrow the date / age of these lids.

Did they give you a story or anything as to how they have them? Swapped them out for a different color lid way back when?

Thank you Tom! I Appreciate the pictures. The Mica colors have a very distinct defining look to them. Now that I've seen enough of them they will be easy to identify.

Ed Young sells replacement Weber parts on their own site as well as on Amazon and probably just had these sitting around for years. I only stumbled across the lids by searching some combination of Weber mica lid. I was amazed to see 2 new lids available on their site at $103 each plus shipping so I decided to take the gamble & placed the order online for them. I never received an order confirmation or shipping notice but they showed up in just 2 days as expected. I’m still a bit dumbfounded by the score TBH.

It’s a hell of a score. I’d be hard pressed to not buy those at $100/each. You obviously have a better history of this gig, and a customer base willing to pay the premium prices so it’s probably less risky of a purchase for you.

You were the one who bought those knob’s off eBay I posted a while back, correct? Were those silver B knob’s or 1000?

Had to be Silver B knobs if it was me and bought on eBay. I’m a sucker for NOS deals so that would make sense. I buy my X000 knobs a couple of dozen at a time from an online retailer.

I saw they were dirt cheap but had just bought a bunch of stuff from Amazon so I wasn’t having that “discussion” (see: arse chewing) from the wife.

Did you see the NOS handles I posted? I think the guy still has some available if that is something you’re interested in? Silver A and B.

*edit - that just made me think. I wonder if the handle design change coincides with the end caps? I have an 02 Silver B that has the thru bolts on the end caps.
