Hi Everyone,

I am based in Pretoria, South Africa. After doing a quick search on the group I see only a few

from South Africa has passed through here.

I have an addiction to American style BBQ and smoking foods, South Africans love

their fire cooked food but needs a little bit of a nudge to try new things.

I bought my first WSM 22 in Nov 2015, before that I owned a one-touch gold and a few

other kettle style grills.

My current arsenal consists of the WSM22.5, small diy offset, weber 22 master touch, cheap kettle grill, 4burner gas grill & a built in charcoal grill

I have done a lot on my WSM and love it to bits, some of my most memorable cooks have been a warthog ham, warthog bacon, Springbok ribs and a few

other venison cuts

Ill add a few pix of my last few sessions just because we love it.
The last session was this past weeekend which was 9kgs (19.8lbs) of ribs and 3kgs (6.6lbs) of burnt ends was for a family get together.
The next day i used left over burnt ends to make the best chili bowl ever!

Yes the brisket was dry and i learnt from my mistake :)

Currently I have become more interested in SCA cookoffs and would love to bring that as well as smoking competitions into South Africa.

I started a small company in Jan 2020 (pre covid) called The Smokin Dutchman, which intends to promote and sell niche US style meats & suasages

to open promote the style I know and love.

Looking forward to gaining more knowledge from the forum!

Have an awesome day!

Welcome, Quinton. Pretty sure those are the first warthog and Springbok posts here on the board! :)

Good looking grub, my man! Stick around and share some more of your foods from SA!
