Howdy, I'm James

I was referred to this forum by my brother.

I've been cuing for going on a little over 4 years now, and still enjoy it as much as the first day I started.
I'm always ready ot alk about bbq or discuss new methods with others, though.

I do have one question: Having mastered baabyback ribs, I'm now looking at doing some beefback ribs. They're on sale in the area, so now is an ideal time.
However, I read an another thread where some of you said beefbacks take longer to smoke then babybacks. Why is that?
Until now, everything I've read said you can do beefback in less time than babyback ribs, beff taking 2-2 1/2 hrs versus 3-4 hrs for babybacks.
Does ti take longer for the connective tissues in beef to break down?

no one's going to answer my question?

I think those bad boys are Mords specialty! I pretty sure those are the ones hes talked about alot. Welcome aboard James.

Hi James--I find beef ribs take about the same amount of time as spares--6-7 hours, not the smaller babybacks.

Welcome to the board.

Well, hello there....its been really busy at work... not Qing or on here.....but im here now!
Neways, these are NOT the ribs i usually make...what i make are what i call MOnster ribs...In the link provided, y nick, most of the meat it trimmed away from the bone ..Look Here- Monster ribs

check this out and do another search if you want more info on monster ribs.......

i cook there i believe atleast 5-7 hours....6-7 is best i believe...good luck

Thanks for all the input.

Mordechai,

Beef ribs - I make them all the time, and sometimes I make them alone or with Pork Ribs. I have an AWESOME rub I use on both and I cook them the same time. More questions?

I have a question for you Peter. Its all about that awesome rub. I would like to hear more about it.

Now we have a Tag team to deal with around here!
