How to keep smoker temp up in colder weather?

I've been using mine for several years. Parts of it is smoke-laden, but that's about it.
 
My piece of plywood worked very nicely on New Year’s Eve, held temperature through the 12 degree night very well, 11 hours in, I needed to stoke again but, I knew I would have to anyway.
I’m with you Jay, if I have something, that will serve the purpose, I’d rather have a multitasker than something else to store, the plywood serves several functions and if I need to cut it for something else, a half sheet of 3/4 ply is easy to get.
