How to go from Pretty to Ugly to Absolutely Delicious in One Cook

Dinner tonight was ribeye steaks, seasoned with Montreal Steak, crockpot green beans and shrooms
that were seasoned with Way Out West.

Shrooms hit the Performer first. Burning RO lump with a chunk of oak.

Steaks starting to come up to room temperature.

Shrooms are done.

Steaks on direct. Here is where they start to turn ugly! I got distracted and was only going to
leave them direct for a couple minutes on each side. I ended up just cooking them direct the whole
cook. They went from pretty to steak that was all puffed up and ugly in a real hurry. I believe I should
have brought them up completely to room temperature before putting them on instead of rushing
to get them on the grill as I got home late from work. :o

Steaks are done!

Plated with the crockpot green beans that my wife put on this morning.

They may have not been picture perfect steaks but they were really delicious. Very tender, juicy
and cooked to a nice medium rare. So I guess the moral of this crazy story is that you can’t judge
a steak by its cooked look! ;)

Thanks for looking!

Those look good to me! I usually season them then put them in the freezer for 30 mins and then throw them on the hot grill. I think it helps them not cook as quick on the inside and lets me get a good crust on the outside.

Like everyone else, I missed the ugly part! The steaks look great and I'd eat that any day! A bone in ribeye is a great cut of beef - Excellent job!

I think someone must have hacked you thread and replaced the pictures of the ugly steaks with some really nice ones.

I'd love to taste one of them!
