How do you like to test your new spice rubs?

I'm always trying out new spice rubs, and I usually try them out on a batch of chicken wings. How do you guys like to test your new rubs?

If the new rubs are for chicken, I do chicken. If they are for pork, I do ribs or a Boston Butt, etc.

I like trying them out on whatever meat I have available and then I eat it.

I do them on the meat that I buy them for. The first time I use them I go a little light on the rub. Just enough to get the flavor, but in case I don't like it, I can still eat the food.
