Hi everyone,
I’m a long time griller / smoker. I started 30 years ago with gas for many years before graduating straight to a BGE. After 10 years, I grew tired of dealing with the maintenance required for a ceramic. So I sold it and bought a Weber kettle, a RecTeq pellet smoker, and a Blackstone. The Blackstone was a PITA so it didn’t stick around for long. I added a second kettle - kinda by accident - and that was my set up for almost 7 years. I’ve smoked and grilled just about everything except lamb and duck.
A few months ago, I gave my second kettle to my new son-in-law to introduce him into charcoal grilling the RIGHT way
. So I was back down to a single Weber kettle and the pellet smoker. After lusting over the Summit Kamado for 7 years, I finally added it about a month ago. The lack of accessory support from Weber and the low YouTube content drove me to find this forum.
I’ve kept my kettle (and likely will forever) but I am trying to decide if the Kamado is a worth keeping. I’ve done some high heat grilling (smash burgers) and some roasting (wings and spatchcock chicken. Today, on my 56th b-day - I am smoking two racks of ribs and a pork brisket. Next week will be more chicken and a brisket over the weekend.
Then I will make my final call. Hopefully this community can help me sort through my conundrum!
