Here are a couple older grills that I've picked up on CL in the last week or so. I don't know but its been easy pickins' here in the Twin Cities as I guess no one else in the area cares about these old grills like I do. Oh well, someone has to rescue them.
The first is a red Weber Imperial Sequoia that is in pretty good shape. Its missing the ash pan and some hardware (lid hooks and towel rings) and the bowl has a few chips in it but other than that looks to be pretty complete. The original wheels have been replaced and it has been painted so I'm going to remove that and let the natural redwood show with just a transparent stain to go on the wood. Here's a couple pics as its going to have to wait until I have time to work on it, but I did clean the lid.
Next is a 70's Weber Gas Barbeque Kettle grill that I just received today. I guess this doesn't belong in the charcoal grill section but I've added it to the other find that I got. I've cleaned it up and fired her up and it works fine. The on/off knob seems to be stuck in the "on" position so I'll have to work on that but overall looks good. I like the vents in the lid, looks like the fins on a shark and this even comes with your 70's lava rock. The owner was the original buyer and said the lava rock was also original.
Both of these grills would qualify as Weber "classics" in my book. The Weber Sequoia will be used when I get done with the restoration and I'll even try the Weber gas barbeque grill just to see how well it does or does not work. Not real optimistic about that one though.
