Help Removing Seized Bolt

Yah, I have a battery powered Ridgid 1/4" impact and use it all the time on my grills. It is great at removing stuck/rusted bolts, especially the 5/16" screws holding the slide rails for the grease pans on the bottom of the cook box.

Bruce, I had a slide rail 5/16" screw that just would not budge after many attempts. I saw your video on gently using an impact wrench but don't have one. I took my drill with torque settings, put it in reverse and slowly kept trying while slowly ramping up the torque. It worked! I had about given up and was going to just paint around the rail. This will make it a lot easier. I think it's the vibrations that help. 20250810_145113.jpgThanks!

One more for more time and more penetrating oil. Me, while I've used PBBlaster for decades, I've been using a 50/50 acetone & ATF mix for the last few years. Yes, even a plumber's torch will help. Another old trick is to heat it up, and wick in some beeswax by touching a candle to it.
I have seen using a colored caryon so you can see it being wicked under the bolt head or down around a shank.

John just out of curiosity, can we see a pic of the grill your working on.
Sure Samuel, it's in pieces now. I should be ready to paint the frame, cookbox and endcaps this week. It's my second grill I have cleaned and painted. It's a Silver B. This one I am going to roll out for our neighborhood Labor Day block party.
