Hi,

I can not tell you how excited I am. I have just taken delivery of a 22.5 WSM with both the maverick et733 and iq110 in the post.

Its cold in the UK, with sub zero figures at night, I plan to smoke some pork asap!

Yours Fraternally,

Mike

If you learn to smoke pork bellies into bacon and bottom round beef into jerky, you be makin' some $$'s, oooops, I meant Sterling!

Welcome. I was lucky enough to be part of a Rotary exchange group that visited Yorkshire in 1999. We were there for a month and visited Manchester, Bradford, Skipton and the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Pickering and North York Moors National Park, Filey, Whitby, Halifax, and even Leeds, among other places. I also got to take a swing over to the Lake District to climb Harrison Stickle one day.

We saw some beautiful country, met a lot of friendly people, and developed a taste for Black Sheep Ale. In the pre-9/11 days, we hauled some back in luggage after a trip to London. One day Black Sheep popped up in stores here, and now I keep it on hand all the time.

I met more vegetarians in one month over there than in my whole life in Louisiana. Meat was certainly served, but I never had any smoked meat (other than kippers for breakfast).

I'd be interested to hear about the popularity of BBQ in the UK and what cuts of meat are the favorites.

Wow! sounds like you had a great time. Black sheep is a good ale, If you can get it I would recommend an ale called 'saltaire blonde'

BBQ in the UK is vastly different from the US, British BBQ is basically grilling burgers and sausages over charcoal. if we feel adventurous we may even grill chicken fish or lamb! (shocking I know!)

Low and slow is not widely known in the UK, however it is starting to change slowly. I put this down to US tv shows live man v food and other US food shows. In Leeds a US style bbq restaurant has opened up http://truebarbecue.com/ this is what has started my obsession!

Howye mike. Greetings from Dublin, Ireland.

Things are much the same over here regarding Bbq.

Our idea is as follows. Light gas Bbq. Put on sausages and burgers. Over cook everything within 10 minutes.
Put food on paper plate. Put meat in between bread. Have a beer. Everyone says "great Bbq". Leave Bbq grill dirty till next year.
Go back inside for another 12 months

Slow&low fever in my house for the last while. My girlfriend thinks I've lost the plot, except when she's eating the spoils.

Happy smoking fella!!
