My name is Phil and thanks to my girlfriend I am the proud owner of the 18.5 inch WSM! An early birthday gift. She bought me a grill for Christmas and this was the missing piece I needed. I am excited to try the smoker out this weekend. I ordered a boneless turkey breast for the ladies and will put that on the top rack and 3 racks of baby back ribs for the bottom.

This will be my first time ever using a smoker. I couldn't be more excited. I have spent every night for a month reading as much as I can to prepare myself. I plan on following one of the recipes under the beginners section.

Thanks for having me and fingers crossed things go well with Sat first smoke.

Can I recommend you place the turkey on bottom and ribs on top? I have this thing about poultry on top. ...just a suggestion. Welcome aboard -- we look forward to the post about your success.

I agree with Dwain...or do the breast in another grill. good luck.

Welcome to another North Carolinian!

For the first cook, I would recommend you grill the chicken and smoke the ribs. They have different cooking times and things can get confusing on your first cook.
