Ahhhhhh its always good to visit with the pro's.....hope all of you have been well. I am still plugging away with about a grill per week. I mostly focus on real nice middle aged Genesis or the preferred Gen II's for resale. I currently have a Gen II 410 in the barn and have addressed all details and even have it pre sold. I would really like to clean up the prep table end caps and knobs but I have yet to come up with a great method for this. These are the typical sun faded end caps that seem to have absorbed stains into the pours. I have tried steel wool with a few cleaners with no success. In the past for the older Genesis we have sanded the table tops but this is different. My feeling is that the top layer has to be removed or use a cleaner that will go in and pull out the stains like hydrogen peroxide and baking soda mix..........anyway.......please let me know if you guys have figured this out. I dont think we can soak the modern knobs in bleach like we do with the old ones due to chrome and red markings.....

After posting I went out to the garage just to try a method or two.........I got a great improvement using 0000 steel wool with bleach/dawn combo.......it looked like it was drying it out quite a bit so I rinsed with Dawn/water combo.....we shall see in the morning. It seems as if you can get the bleach down into the surface where the black spots are by using some kind of abrasive......the bleach will take care of business once on the scene. So Bruce's bleach continues to be a big part of the solution. I will try magic eraser w this bleach combo tomorrow.

Simple green and Dawn dish soap does the trick for me.

When I was flipping grills Genesis ii we're easily my biggest money makers and most frequent flips. I did find a high heat Gray paint that matched the end caps and cook box exactly but I found doing a full color change to Black looks much more appealing and sells very well. Here's a thread from one of my Genesis ii Restorations.

Thanks guys. Josh I will read your resto thread. Yes Gen II's sell immediately and for good money. They are generally easy flips. I am curious which gray paint you found.

I can't remember off the top of my head but I'll go back and look and find it for you.

Thanks Josh......I just read through your resto thread of the blackout grill. I remember seeing that one before. It humbles me as I think I am a pro and then I see a job like this and realize there are other folks out there that can really knock it out of the park. Thanks for taking the time to find those paint colors for me.....I will pick some up.

Thanks for the compliment Jim! I'm humbled also by the great knowledge and experience that I find here on this site. A lot of what I've been able to accomplish is due to the the great people here and everything they have helped me achieve. I was restoring grills long before I found or even heard of this forum but I have been able to up my grill game a lot thanks too the kind people here willing to share their knowledge and experience. I'm happy to do the same and hope I can help others along the way.

Oh I found another picture. In this picture the lid is original paint from Weber and the cook box is this KBX XTC paint I posted above. So you can see that they match.

Ya man I feel the same way. I found this site when I was on like grill #20 and I was still doing the old school Silver B's and the 1000's. I had no idea about NPT and 11wc and FB Marketplace. I have mentioned it before but I have been on many forums and this one is by far the best group of people hands down.
