Yesterday I hosted my first family Thanksgiving dinner. All the standard fixings, all very good. I hope all you other first-timers out there had as much fun and success as I did.
But the meal itself, though memorable, did not warrant this post. No, something far greater happened yesterday, something which will undoubtedly influence many future Turkey Days...
My lady's parents were due to arrive mid-afternoon. I had just pulled the ABTs and was getting ready to prep the bird when I was kicked out of the house by my girlfriend with no explanation. My dad took me to his hotel bar and told me not to ask questions. Apparently the future in-laws had a surprise in store.
After an anxious hour at the bar watching a terrible football game and thinking how much this delay would push back dinner, we went back home. And look what was waiting in the backyard for me!!!

Shock, lots of shock, still in stock, Wow this thing is amazing!
The cooker is made out of an old air compressor. Everything was put together and welded from scratch. The charcoal grates were also handmade.
I thought about firing it up immediately for the turkey cook, but the weber still had some heat from the ABTs so I played it safe and used the ol' bullet.
So what to do with multiple smokers? Well the weber's finding a new home at the parents house a few hours away, perfect for holiday cooks when lots of people need feeding. And the new smoker, well all I need is a good name to give it!
