The brown truck of happiness finally shows up at 8:20PM after going out for delivery at 5:38 AM.
My son, Luke, might be more excited at the giant box with all the parts than daddy is. (Yes - his mouth is blue-green. He's been eating a colored popsicle.)
Parts spread out in living room for assembly.
Puddles the duck. He's for Monday night's championship game - duck a l'orange et bleu. But that's for a different post. War Eagle!
Luke demonstrates that you can
easily cook a four-year-old in the 22" WSM.
Unpacking and assembly take less than 30 minutes. (Of course, it helps if you've been studying the manual on-line and had the tools lined up!)
Outside the next evening. I have it running without food to burn off the oil and such that was on it. And to generally play with it.
It's a "AA," folks! (2011) Do I win a prize? Is it the first Weber baby of the new year?
I ordered these shortly after ordering the cooker. They came the day after the cooker. They'll go on this weekend before cooking.
And in a related note, my brother got me this for Christmas - as seen in last year's virtual Weber bullet giveaway.
This is a busy weekend, so sadly, I won't get a big cook. I have a leftover turkey breast and two tenderloins from Thanksgiving, and I plan to tie them up in in a little roast and smoke it Saturday. That will make a short, easy first cook to learn the ropes. The other week, I was contemplating out loud what my first cook should be - my ribs are pretty mature, or should I try butts, since that's what I've been wanting to try next. My wife said, "brisket." OK....pretty ambitious, but with the information I've gleaned here over the years, I think I'll be all right. So next weekend will be a brisket.
One last comment - I've shot guns of many calibers, and have reloaded many calibers, but I've never seen a bullet shaped like this. Shouldn't these be nicknamed "Weber suppositories?"
