Handles for a Weber Firepit?

I have a well-worn but still usable Weber firepit that I inherited from my dad. I actually didn't know it was a Weber until recently. Go figure. Anyhoo, I failed to get it into storage last Fall and this Winters ice storms and freezing temps finally did in the wooden handles. I would assume these are the same as the handles used on Weber's grills? It makes sense, but before I buy new ones, I wanted to check. Also, I'm guessing that the newer plastic type handles won't do in this application (I know how hot that lid gets when a fire is going). I found handles here, but I'm not sure I want to spend $60 on new handle assemblies when the only thing worn out is the wooden part.

Have you tried calling Weber customer service to see if they have the wood handles? They might. Just a thought.

The firepit uses the same wooden handle as older grills. I know for a fact that a while back, Weber Customer Support still had some firepit handles...I bet they're gone by now, but no harm in calling 800-446-1071.

from my understanding, the last batch of handles were actually bamboo. I wanted some but they only supplied them to dealers for warranty work.
and I'm stickin to that.
