Daniel, there's a few people out there making old-style Weber wood handles. Some on Etsy, I found http://grillhandle.com as a source, etc. Take a look around the Internet with your favorite search engine, and I'm sure you'll find something.

As for that charcoal grate......it's got two removable charcoal dividers attached to it. These were one of Weber's options for being able to position coals to one or either side of the charcoal grate providing for multiple heat zones or indirect cooking. They appear to be installed on the bottom of the charcoal grate, and, instead, should be installed facing up from the top of the grate. I've always used the Weber baskets, as I find them more convenient, especially when you want to move them around with lit coals in them.

EDIT: adding in the link to Weber.com for these "charcoal rails" https://www.weber.com/GB/en/accessories/cooking/charcoal-briquettes-and-accessories/7402.html

Oh, and, welcome to TVWBB!

Yes I'll be swapping out the sweeps just haven't gotten around to it also can I add the ash canister to this model? I gave it a quick scraping with a putty knife still need to degrease it and get it all cleaned up

Yes, I believe you can put a ash can under that one. I did it with my 18” never looked back! I need to upgrade my “Pizzaque kettle with that too!
