Restaurant Depot came to town almost a year ago and I finally made it out there, and found what I was looking for!

I got a 10 pound box of gyro meat, a 5 pound block of Feta, 5 pounds of scallops, & I'm gonna need some more pitas

I cut the cheese (he he) into 5 sections.... froze four of them.

4.5 pieces per gyro - :)

It's a lot "meatier" than I expected. I think that was only 1.5 pounds of meat. I only ate one, the other got wrapped in foil for my 2nd lunch or dinner :) I'm looking forward to gyro Greek salads (gyro meat, kalamata olives, tomato, etc, sliced hard-boiled egg, pepperocini,

They had 3 or 4 ways to buy this stuff (2 kinds like this, one kind was raw, the other I assume is to go on the spit <vertical rotisserie, whatever that's called>).

The feta was only ~$2.10 / lb, I had a hard time not walking out with pork or beef ribs. Really good prices

Yes - they're actually very flavorful (a touch understated...dunno how to explain) - I didn't have one until I was ~19 years old... kind of an acquired taste, I sure liked the 2nd one.

This is beef & lamb

If you see them on the menu somewhere give it a try. Oh and when you order, be sure to pronounce it Gyro, not Yeero or Euro :)

edit:>> I didn't realize these were uncooked, & I thought this had lamb in it but looks like not...

***one more thing - I noticed a whole bunch of Lazzari lump (sp?), it was way high and since it was my first day there and I'm kind of squeaking by I didn't want too much attention. I'll probably end up with some of that next time.

Looks good Clint.
Try to get some Feta made from sheep's milk, or from a mixture of sheep and goats milk. I love it.

It was a lot easier than I expected. I half expected to be turned away. I've heard the same thing (KCBS).

Great prices on cheeses----I get sick of paying $16-18/lb @ Harmons. Also 50# bags of onion for ~$9. Great big selection on dried peppers... ribs were $1.99/lb, pork butt $1.4x in small packs (cheaper than costco). Tri tip $6, ribeyes $6 too, but that's for the entire roast. I went in for the gyro meat...... about walked out with 18# of beef ribs. What's the last beef roast I got--- eye of round - that was ~3.49/lb, I think.
