grilling on WSM

if I get a lid from an 18.5" weber kettle will it fit over the bottom part of my WSM for grilling.
I hate balancing the lid on the lower section.

Yes it will. This is the lid from my SJP which I believe is the same.

Remove the charcoal grate and ring from the bottom section and place them on the bottom cooking grate. Puts the lit coals about 8" from the top cooking grate and you don't have to bend over to cook. I put my coals to one side in the ring so have room for indirect cooking.

That is what I do all the time! I throw the grate from the wsm right on the charcoal ring and put the lid on from my 18.. Most times I am just crisping up smoked chicken or doin some burgers after a long smoke..

Where can i get a lid?
I assume I would have to order one from weber.

Unless you find one on CL ordering one could be pricy.
Another option is fab-in some aluminum tabs like this and using the WSM lid.(scroll down to the bottom pic# 14)

the replacement 22.5 grate option looks like the easiest and cheapest way to go. thanks for the input guys!
