grilled flappers

Nice save and nice cook: your experience is showing. I'm proud I re-read the post before asking what the heck are those green things in pic #8 :o

Terrific looking flapper cook Jim!
Sorry that 'thing' gave you problems, but I love this pic!

I'm sure that you'll figure out a mod.
Happy you like the Holly's too.

Wings look great Jim, how were the Super Hot ones? Char gives texture ... thats what you were going for right? Hehe

how were the Super Hot ones?
Jeremy, the hot sauce i used was STUBB'S GREEN CHILE MARINADE...
i've never seen it before and knowing how much i like Stubbs and hot sauce, i figured i'd buy two bottles.
Well, i haven't seen it since then and the day i bought it, i opened one bottle to taste test it.
WHOA!
It was HOT!
capped the bottle and returned it to the fridge. do not remember how long ago that was butt it's been a while, anyway....
i tried it AGAIN on Sunday when i was gonna make the wings.... STILL WHOAHOT.... so, i decided to try only a couple to see if the heat would "burn off"....
well, glab to say, the majority of the intense heat was gone, butt just enough to remind you that they were marinated in some pretty good hot sauce. and those two little drummettes were in it only about an hour. They were very good!
So, I WILL use the remainder of that bottle and the second bottle.
Thanks for asking, i did not know i could talk so dam much

Jim, I looked at that same rig at sportsmans wharehouse and wasn't sure if it would be any good. Thanks for the review. NIce save on the flappers!

I know Jim. I don't understand why these grill baskets have long, undetachable handles. I have a veg grill basket with an undetachable, wooden handle. Duh. Even if I could fit it inside the grill, it would burn up. I may have to cut the handle off.
Glad you were able to save the wings. Looks great. Glad to hear about the hot sauce -- something to warm you up in this weather.
George Curtis, thanks for the recommendations.

I've tried two of the non stick grill baskets and both of them soon began to flack off pieces of the coating. Now, if it ain't SS or iron, not gonna buy it.............................d
