Grill cart build

Wondering if anyone else has had this idea before. Found this frame at a friend's house, literally fell off someone's truck and they pulled it out of the road. Rusty but more than adequate for my purposes. Door and side panels are from a free Genesis silveri picked up for parts a few weeks back. Thinking wood table on top with metal over that. Fill in the side gaps around the door with wood or sheet metal. Paint it all up nice and have a good little storage cart for basically free, other than the sheet metal and paint. Already have plenty of scrap wood around. Thoughts?

Thanks, still needs a good cleaning and repainting! It’s an old silver B cart, from my first gasser buy, blown out firebox and after loaning it to DIL most of the rest was trashed, control panel, manifold, bars and burners were still just fine. So, I‘ve got a few parts for another curb find or sale.

A throw away genesis gold B/C (like Tim's above) would be a better cart platform -- two flat work tables, two flip up tables, and some came with doors I believe. Put a counter top in the middle -- done!

Member Brian Moriarty built some, this is one thread I found.

I'd love that, but this is all the "scraps" I currently have 😂

Made some more progress after work yesterday. Used some more spare parts, added a wood top. Used some side panels from the last parts grill to help finish making it a closed in cabinet. The rusted bottom tray was big enough to cut the rust off and use as the back for this. Attached the condiment tray from that other grill as well. Even used the old hardware when I needed it from the parts grill. Think I'll sand the top and condition with butcher block oil

Yesterday I restored the plastic end and flip up table. I wet sand with 1500 until it feels smooth like glass, then use butcher block conditioner to get a nice deep color back to it. The oil does dry within a day and has no residue. The table had a feel of something around 120 grit sandpaper to it, it was ROUGH to the touch and obviously faded. I also modified that lower rack. Cut off the end that usually would rest on the lower bar, then drilled holes in the frame so it could slide in. This allowed me to mount the door and not have the rack interfere. I'll put a small self tapping screw on the back side to hold the rack from sliding out. Having fun getting creative with it!

Well, until I think of something else it needs, I believe it's done, other than a new set of casters. Pretty happy overall, works well and gives the extra storage and counter space I was looking for. The casters will be the only part I spend any money on, so I feel like that's doing pretty well! Already had the paint leftover from another project
