Great road trip and score.

Yesterday we did a day trip we went to Phoenix to go to the Penzey's spice store a 200 mile round trip and just for giggles I looked at the Phoenix CL to see if they might have a used Weber in natural gas because we just moved into a home with an outside gas bib. Bingo! I found a lightly used 2009 copper E320 in NG for under $200, needless to say it's in my garage now. The original receipt shows the person who bought it paid a little over $800 for it with taxes. Not going to give up my Genesis 1000 LX until I know I’ll be happy with the performance of the E320.

Rich, you will definitely be happy with it. I picked up a used 310 a few months ago. Its a great grill. Of course I still prefer charcoal but sometimes I am just cooking something small or in a hurry. You probably wont use the Genesis 1000 much any more.

Great color on that too

Very Nice!

Interested to hear your opinion of any cooking difference between the two layers of flavorizer bars on your 1000, and the single layer on the new machines.

When we had our other home we had an upper and lower deck with the main part of the house on the upper deck. I had my older 1000LX downstairs and I picked up a newer 5 bar 1000 for upstairs. A world of difference in those two the 1000 LX never and I mean never flares up and has very even heat distribution the 5 bar had hot spots and would flare up quite frequently, that's why I kept the 1000LX for the last 15 years and that's why it will stay until I'm sure the E320 will be as good as the 1000 LX has been.

Hi Rich,
when I looked at the Webers with two layers of flavorizers, my first thought was, 'well thats a bit over-engineered'. When I found out that latter models only had one layer, my thoughts were "well thats a bit under-engineered. The bean counters must have been in."
I will take over-engineering any day.
I have done very little cooking so far on either my 5000 or the Summit 4 burner (I have installed this at my father-in-laws), but the 5000 after you heat it up seems very even and stable with heat distribution.
Big cook planned for Sunday, 17 to feed, 3 Webers will be in action.

I do like the colour of you 320. I do not think we see it much here.

When I got my Genesis II I noticed it seemed "uneven" I followed many tips from Weber CS and finally one they gave me did the trick. She told me to remove the top layer of bars. Well sure enough nice and even. So on a whim I had my dad talk to a guy he knows that fabricated stainless steel. He made a set for me that matched the larger height and angle of the newer grills. Been using them ever since in both that Genesis II (that is now on my bro's deck) and in my dad's Genesis 2000. They did the trick
