Good Price for a Genesis 3000????

I found a Genesis on CL. I "think" it is a 3000, it may be a 4000. Has the side burner, long frame, etc... It looks to be well taken care of from pics. Being that it is still 10+ years old... what is a good price for it? They are asking $130 for it and it is an hour drive away. Looking to maybe purchase tonight, so many replies are requested. Thanks

If it has one flip up side table and a side burner it's a 3000 if it has two flip up tables one at each end it's a 4000. The grill itself is the same on both. Both are fairly hard to find so 130 if in good condition is probably worth it. Check the frame for rust as frame parts for those are not available anymore.
If you get it and need some parts I'm parting out a 3000.

Here is a picture of it. Owner said they put stainless grates on it a couple of years ago. THey said it does need a ignitor, but said they have a brand new one that they never installed but will throw in. I did talk them down to $110...but have yet to see it in person

From that pic it seems to be it good shape and at $110.00 I would go for it. Good Luck. And it is green.

With a little work it could look like this. I eliminated the side burner as I have two already and wanted shelf space instead.

@ $110, as long as the frame is in good solid shape, definitely grab it. Be sure to pay particular attention to the short part of the frame connecting the front to the back on the left side of the firebox. That is where the rust usually hits. Might also take a look and see if the flavorizers and burner tubes are in good shape. If they need to be replaced, maybe seller might give you an additional discount. But if they don't, no worries, it's still a good price. One thing you want to be sure of is that gas is getting through the manifold to the burners.

Well I just got back home... empty handed. It was in pretty good condition, while carrying it to load into the pickup, the long bottom railings both fell off. Rust was on each end of the support railings.... I was so sad :( I remember guys saying to watch for rust on the frame... and there it was....

On a side note, this grill had some weird quick connect for the regulator and the propane tank. I have never seen it before. I am used to the normal, modern big plastic thing you twist to connect onto the tank.... is this something I should be aware of when looking elsewhere?

One last question... for some reason in my area, I see alot of Natural Gas Weber grills... what are some pro/cons of this? I thought I had read something about Weber telling retailers not to sell or recommend selling Natural Gas to Propane kits.... what say all of you?

Sucks that the frame was rusted out on you. That happens now and then. Some people are handy/talented enough that rust isn't a problem for them. That or they have friends who can weld. The rest of us just have to dust ourselves off and look for the next deal.

The connection you saw was a quick disconnect that Weber used for a short time. If you ever come across another, you can buy a new style regulator for about $30.

NG vs Propane is personal choice. If you have the hookups for it, NG is great. Never have to worry about running out of gas. Biggest downside is that you can move your grill around to a different spot really as you are tethered by the NG hose. Weber absolutely will not sell a conversion kit and they forbid their retail partners from selling them or doing the conversions. That said, there are places where you can buy manifolds different from what your grill has. Or, you can replace the orifices and get the appropriate regulator.

What Dave said is correct, the fitting was a quick connect fitting. They went away after the new tanks came out with the overflow device installed. As Dave said for around $20+ you can get a new regulator with the correct fitting.
I have a NG E320 and love it, with it's endless gas supply I never worry about running out. Weber will definitely not sell you a conversion kit or a manifold to do a conversion. They will demand the serial # of the grill and only sell you the manifold it was built with. If you would want to do a manifold conversion I know Ereplacmentparts.com will sell you one no questions asked as I bought a NG manifold for a genesis 1000 that was propane.
You can drill out a propane manifold jet for NG but not the other way as the opening in the NG jet is larger than the propane.
