Anything I can do to fix?Something contaminated the surface you sprayed. Usually moisture will cause that cloudiness
My two thoughts@Bruce what did I do wrong here?
Damn. Yeah it is scorching and I did it in the sun. WelpMy two thoughts
#1 being high humidity and black paint. When humid you need to go with several light coats to allow the paint to flash so the solvents can evaporate.
#2 this can also happen if painting in direct sunlight.
When painting on hot and humid days (not grills, but auto body) I have to run the booth with the heat cranked at 90 because it helps dry the air out.
What I would do is put it back out in the sun. Let it cook. Then let it cool off overnight, then scuff it up let it sit a day or two and re-spray it in more favorable conditions.Damn. Yeah it is scorching and I did it in the sun. Welp
When you say, “scuff it up”, what would you use for that? What I would do is put it back out in the sun. Let it cook. Then let it cool off overnight, then scuff it up let it sit a day or two and re-spray it in more favorable conditions.
That's what I do. Let it dry completely and then see what it looks like. Those pieces usually need more than one coat to look good anyway. If you simply let it cure a while it MIGHT correct itself. I've seen it do that after a full "cure".
Do you think another coat could help even it out or do you think I’d need to scuff/strip it?That's what I do. Let it dry completely and then see what it looks like. Those pieces usually need more than one coat to look good anyway.
I think I would try that first before I started scuffing and stripping what you already did. How's does it look now after it's been able to dry for a couple of hours?Do you think another coat could help even it out or do you think I’d need to scuff/strip it?
Still looks quite shadowy/unevenI think I would try that first before I started scuffing and stripping what you already did. How's does it look now after it's been able to dry for a couple of hours?
If you give it another coat it should even out, but I would wait until tomorrow to do it. I don't even try anymore to get it right the first time. I'd rather have it take a couple days and look good.Still looks quite shadowy/uneven
Yeah I didn’t really understand to give a light coat and come back later for a second. I’ll give it a day or two. It should cool down here as well.If you give it another coat it should even out, but I would wait until tomorrow to do it. I don't even try anymore to get it right the first time. The nice thing about it being so hot out is that the paint dries a lot faster. I would feel confident in doing another coat tomorrow.Yeah I didn’t really understand to give a light coat and come back later for a second. I’ll give it a day or two. It should cool down here as well.
