Genesis Gold Part 2

Oh, he knew the grill was LP when he bought it. He just thought he would run it on NG like he had done previously. The only part I don't understand is how he thinks the previous Genesis Gold he had ran right on NG unless it was really a Ng grill and he just doesn't understand the difference.
Well before I found this site, circa 2004, I knew LP and NG were different. People are stupid.

So @Cody Bratton was gracious enough to send me the manifold from a NG Genesis Gold he has that was in less than decent condition. I polished and lubricated the valves for good measure and removed them from the rail. I sanded down as much of the expected surface rust as I could on the rail and gave it two coats of the Rustoleum hi heat flat paint so as to not highlight the flaws in the metal. I let it dry for a day and reassembled it. The plan for it now is to take it to the guy's house that bought my Genesis Gold grill and convert it to NG all in the name of keeping a customer happy. I won't touch his gas line so if he still isn't happy with how it works, I'm just going to have to tell him it's a problem on his end. I don't think I can do anything more for someone than thatIMG_20250503_162429309.jpgIMG_20250504_220134166.jpgIMG_20250504_220225173.jpg

Wow that's customer service!! Excellent job Steve!!

. I would be blown away and forever thankful if I was in his position and somebody did all that for me.
Ha ha, you know I probably would be too. I just don't want the guy to have a bad taste in his mouth after paying what I consider to be good money for one of my babies. I would rather go the extra mile and it will make me happier in the end too, I hope.

Ok, just to give you an idea of the kind of guy I was dealing with, he wasn't planning on using the flavorizer bars with this grill and asked me what they were for when I showed up to fix his grill and he still really didn't understand what was different about the two manifolds. However, he did agree with me that it was now working the way he thought it should after I swapped them over. Now happy, I shook his hand.

My reward for all of this besides his gratitude? I got the LP manifold back, along with the tank scale. He also gave me a hose and regulator, but not the shiny one I gave him with the grill (odd, but I didn't ask) In addition he gave me an almost empty propane tank and a new Weber igniter for a Genesis 1000. So, I mostly left knowing I had a satisfied customer. Oh, I forgot to mention that he lives in Chicago, but luckily on the edge so not too far of a drive.
