Genesis Gold Handle w/ Spirit 2-burner Lid, Mod!

Steve you were right about the SS 2 1/4" mount bolt being slightly sticking out as apposed the 2" one you recommended, however I like it that way better.
Looks perfect with the additional washer you added on the inside. If the donor grill condiment rack is nicer, then just figure out a way to cut it off of the grill so you can use it.

Yes Steve, that crossed my mind but I thought the heat from my angle grinder would melt the plastic. I might have to take a hack saw to the mounting rod.

Or maybe the dowel rod through the entire frame trick.

If you have access to a good vise, and a long steel rod and heavier hammer… take the frame extension off and put the side with the spot weld in a vise. Put the steel rod in and hammer it out. It has not failed me yet.

If no vise you can put the rod in and slam it on concrete while holding the steel part of the frame extension.

Doesn't matter that I have the condiment rack now. The trim piece off the main grill will not budge. Apparently there is a tab on each side on the bottom you have to push in to pull out. But because it is stuck, I cannot do the combination. I tried beating it but only preceded to slightly dent the trim. It's shame I wanted to replace the trim with a better one.
Looks like I will go back to removing the label. Tried rubbing alcohol and scotch bright pad but it won't remove. I wish I had some Aerospace 404 protectant sometimes that removes paint off of plastic when you apply. Sorry for being a little OCD on this part.

Mineral spirits had no effect, but I tried some steel wool and this was my result. Not ideal. Maybe if I take a heat gun to it, I can restore some of the color.

Paint it, it works on the wheels.
Heat gun was a no go. I am at the point of no return, so if I cannot replace, then your right Steve painting would be the only option.

Edit:
On second look it is not too bad. It might be something I can live with.

I would think a semi-gloss or matte finish paint would look great. If it’s In he Sun a lot, may have to pull it off every few years and spray it. But I think with how far you’ve gone, that would be a worthy solution.

One thing I noticed is that my new bottom is already starting to show semi signs of rust. Disappointing indeed but I know that is flaw of these cabinet grills. In the end I may do an open cart instead. I know I forked up the dough for the bottom, but I guess you live, and you learn.
