Genesis 1000 series originally sold with green lids?

You and me both! I also just sourced a NIB 22" kettle that provides all the missing pieces to fully assemble a new, never used (aside from the cart) Performer. I should have 2 or 3 Genny's finished up over the winter to put up for sale whenever the weather turns in April.
 
I'm surprised that the green color doesn't look as "rich" as the red... maybe just the angle and less reflection.
I agree with this, the red just "pops" more.
On the other hand, some members who actively fix and resell (I think it might have been TomRc) have stated that it is easier to resell grills with blue and/or green lids than ones with red lids.
I guess if you are an enthusiast you are more likely to want the pop, if you just want it to blend into your landscaping, green or blue would be your preference.....
 
I think a small part of that has to do with the prevalence of the colors. The rarer the color, the more desirable....but yah, the actual color is the main factor.
