Genesis 1000 restore

Just got hold of a Genesis 1000 in great shape. It still has a quick release regulator so I ordered a new modern QCC1 regulator from Weber.

Not surprisingly the igniter doesn’t work but I’m happy using matches to light it.

The wood handle is a little beat up from the elements so I might make a new one.

I guess I should get a cover for it. Thinking of the 52” one by Char Broil from Lowe’s. Any other suggestions?

Other than that it’s good to go!

Najar,

If you could use something like imgur.com to post pictures of your 1000 we might be able to make better suggestions.

There are many choices for grill covers. The new covers Weber makes are very lightweight and "breathe." The one they sell for the 3-burner Spirit will work on your grill. Some people prefer a more water repellent design. For that I would recommend King Kong covers that you can find on Amazon.

Imagur works quite well but many here don't pick the correct link to share the photos. To actually get the photo to show in the post like this

you need to get the correct share link. You need to click the button that says BBCCode Forums NOT the one that says Share Link. That one is kind of a PIA because when you use that it makes the reader leave the page and go to another site. By using the BBCCode Forums link it puts the photo inline and shows right in the post as I demonstrated here

I agree! Some elbow grease, some parts, and paint well applied and you will a really nice grill you can't buy in the big box stores.

My wife has one of those steam things for getting out wrinkles on clothes. I am guessing we need a little more umpf than that. :p

I see there are different varieties of Genesis 1000; should I try to find out which one I have? Does it matter?

Sometimes yes, certain retailers sold specific models but generally, there were very minor differences from the general model such as color of lid or maybe an accessory or logo on the lid.

A couple photos showing the whole grill would help more.
