Frozen Kielbasi

I am planning on smoking some fresh kielbasi in a few hours but it is frozen solid. I know that they will thaw a little in the next hour...can I smoke it still partially frozen? I plan to finish it on the grill.

I think you would be ok. you could always hit them with defrost in the microwave before you put them on.

I would simmer them in beer or water for about 5 minutes then just put some smoke wood on the grill your going to finish them on.

For what its worth... If I get in a bind I use the microwave to thaw. I use about 20 or30% power and go slowly checking often to keep from 'cooking' whatever I'm trying to thaw.

I used a little microwave defrost for about 3 minutes and then put them on.....
came out perfect!

Rick, Exactly.

That would be my method also if I were confronted with the oops I forgot to take the sausage out of the freezer dilema.
