Fresh cut Apple wood

My friend just gave me 8 chunks of fresh cut apple wood.

Is this wood going to be a stronger smoke? I would normally do 3 chunks of apple but should i only use 2 with it being just cut down?

I am going to be using this wood for my turkey.

I've never tried it, but I've read a few posts where some members do. IIRC about half the amount of fresh compared to seasoned.

I used to smoke pork butts with green peach, but I think J is right. It's best to let it season, especially if wanting to use for poultry.

I had cut some wild cherry back in May or maybe June. I put it in the barn, and the heat of summer seasoned it very quickly. Knock two pieces together and if they make a clacking sound, they're ready to smoke with.

Thanks. I started reading around and it seems everyone says to let it season unless you are cooking with a extremely hot fire. Guess i'll be heading to the store to buy some more chunks of apple.
