Free wood

My family and I returned from a vacation in Oregon Sunday night. While we were there my in-laws gave me some alder, maple, apple and cherry. My wife suggested getting some tubs and cutting and splitting them into chunck.

Why not. I use mostly "found" wood: wild plum, cherry, hickory. Just let it dry for a season, then good to go. Any hard wood is fine.

You don't find much wood around here. I'm looking forward to trying the alder on some salmon.

Simple: You hit the mother lode.

Free wood rules! I have a bunch of hickory and some plum. The plum should be ready to use. I got it in April, and the limbs were fairly small.
