Found Free Silver B

Found a free Silver B I have coveted.
It seems to be in good shape. Grease tray has worn and is bent. Tray guide rails are bent, reason being the previous owner said his dog like to chew at the rails. Probably his reason for passing it on to me. The rail screws are still intact.
I plan to black it out and add a colored lid.
I have curved thermoset tables if needed.
I have black trim end caps needed.
I have a dyed black handle done by Bruce I have been wanting to use.

This grill is the result of the only two free grills I've ever gotten. I combined the best of both and ended up with this one.

I am leaning towards a solid green lid at the moment.

My brother scored these 3 cans of Satin Black for me at $1.20 each on sale at Lowes. They were 75% off. Wondering if I should try this color on the firebox. Does anyone have pic of how it looks that has used it before.

That is a nice place to start at! Is the lid faded or just wanting to use a colored lid? Shame about the grease tray though.

I didn't inspect the lid thoroughly but i just prefer a colored lid. I have been hording parts waiting for this build. I might have another grease tray in my stash, however I will need to buy a new drip tray that attaches to the bottom of grease tray, and some grease tray rails.

9. Ignitor
10. Dyed blk Ignitor switch

Some parts I may need to buy:
1. Grease tray guide rails.
2. Drip tray
3. Burners & flavorizer bars.
4. Grill grates.
5. White wheel hubcaps

It has a Mica Black lid. That explains the odd black color of the lid.

Hey, why not? As long as everything is the same color. Who cares if it's not 100% match. It's like with some of those other grills with the gray. If it's all repainted to same color who cares?

I thought maybe the Krylon Satin black on the firebox and Rustoleum Ultra Semi-Gloss black on the lid endcaps.

I don't know that I have ever seen Krylon's satin black applied. Maybe do a test on something?

Yes, it would be well advised too.

I would love about 20 cans of that stuff. I would use it on cook boxes....maybe end caps as well.

I fixed the grease tray rails; however, the internals are going to need an upgrade. I might get by with wire wheeling the burners and just replacing the crossover tube to get a little more life out of it and save a little.
