Flat Top Griddle

Does anyone have experience with large griddle tops for the 22 Weber? The two shown have a thickness of 9/64" and 1/8", respectively. Knowing how hot a griddle can get, I would think that 3/16" would be the bare minimum to prevent warping. The thinner the steel, the faster the griddle would lose its ability to transfer heat, as well. Thoughts?

I have the Hunsaker griddle and love it. It does not cool quickly at all and would (and have) recommended it to others.

I also have the Hunsaker. The price point is excellent and includes free UPS shipping.

The handle holes are a nice touch, I place small foil trays under the handle holes and push grease and food scrapings in them as I'm cooking.
When I'm done cooking I pour some water on the hot griddle and scrap it clean....wipe dray with rag....and lightly oil it back up to prevent from rusting. Then after it's cooled down I hang it up in my BBQ area in the basement.

It's a fun accessory, especially at that price point and made in USA.

Here is another thread talking about it

You are worrying way too much about splitting hairs. The Hunsaker griddle is heavy and gets hot and is easy to use and clean. It'll be the best $45 you spend on a Weber accessory. It doesn't warp and there's no reason to worry about longevity of it getting hot.

Just get one. You won't regret it.

Sometimes I use the flat-side of GrillGrates.com on my Weber Performer Deluxe as they are lightweight and do not rust. I also have a custom-size GrillGrate for my Weber Smoky Joe.
