Hello All,
I have been hearing so much about tri-tip on here I decided I needed to join the club. My youngest three sons and I are batchin' it this weekend while Kari and my daughter are away Girl Scout Camping. I picked up a pack of choice TTs from WM and triumphantly brought them home anticipating a leisurely evening of grilling on the deck and listening to LSU Tiger baseball. Then life attacked and my wife reminded me number four son has baseball practice tonight and number three son has to be picked up from band practice. Quickly (and with amazing mental agility - it being my day off and all), I switched to Plan B. Number three son is working on his cooking merit badge for scouts. He will cook the steaks after band practice I thought. And so it went...

Tri-Tips getting happy in a mixture or red wine, Worcestershire, Soy, Garlic, and A1 and seasoned liberally with Montreal Steak Seasoning

No. 3 tending his steaks over a screaming hot fire

Pretty good crosshatch for his first try...

Making a batch of my signature sauteed mushrooms (butter, EVOO, garlic, garlic salt, and about 5 tbs of marinade)

Plated with steamed cauliflower & mushrooms - perfect medium rare
Well it really lived up to the hype. The steaks were really tender but very flavorful. We will definitely be doing these again. The best part of the meal was my son's reaction to eating really good food that he had personally cooked. I think he is hooked...
Thanks for looking.
Regards,
John
