First butt - how long is a normal stall?

Ive been hanging out between 155 and 163 for 3 hours now on a 9lb butt. Temp has been between 225 and 250, moved it up to 270ish to try and move it along. How long is a normal stall?
 
John, welcome to the board. Just passing through so I thought I would give you a quick reply.

Every piece of meat is different and 3 hours isnt necessarily unreasonable, depending on many factors including your setup. If you want to speed it up, you can wrap it in foil, but you will lose some of the "crust".

I agree with Rick. Just let it go at a steady temp - it will start to rise again. My last butt stalled at 180* for 2.5 hrs.
 
thanks, looks like things finally started moving again after 3.5 hours. never had to worry about this with the billion briskets ive done, just making sure this cold weather wasnt screwing me up. i have gone through way more fuel that expected, ill attribute that to the cold
