Fall Striped Bass

I had the chance to go striped bass fishing with my brother yesterday, what a beautiful morning in the Great South Bay on the south shore of Long Island. Schools of peanut bunker are leaving the canals and heading east so the the bass come into the bay to feed. The bass drive the bait to the surface so we watch where the birds are working and follow them. The bass were jumping out of the water and following the jigs right up to the boat, amazing to watch. We were on the boat by 6:30 am and back to the dock by 9:00 am, caught 15 fish. You can only keep one fish per person between 28" and 31" so all but two went back. They got filleted, wrapped in tin with oil, lemon and Old Bay, great meal !!

Sounds like a great day fishing and having them chase lures to the boat makes it a next level fishing trip.
Stripers are about the only non native species on the west coast that are ok by me.
I’ve always heard of and seen epic videos of east coast stripper fishing and it looks like fun.
We have stripers here but it doesn’t compare.

Want to know how to ruin a stripers flavor?
Just put it in the Sacramento Delta 😛.
