Every story has an ending

Reality is creeping in. We depart for the airport in <9 hours for the journey home.

We spent the day at the hotel rooftop pool. Quite relaxing and peaceful. Cheers to an amazing trip. I’ll fill in some additional stories as time permits.

Yesterday was a walking tour of the old city of Barcelona. The stories of Spain, as a Jewish person, are quite humbling. Some really bad things happened here.

Enjoy the pool. We certainly did.

And some amazing gelato to close out our tour. This place has locations the world over. I highly recommend checking them out. The dark chocolate is beyond incredible.

Thanks for sharing all of the photos and events with us. We got to go on vacation without leaving home. 😀👍

A bunch of great pics from the trip Brett. Thanks for sharing. I know the feeling that comes with the end of a great vacation. I really wanted to stay in Ireland after 2 1/2 weeks of touring. It was a debate on whether to move into St James Gate or the Jamison distillery :)

Beautiful pictures Brett! The pool looks fabulous, I soaked my head in this…IMG_0711.jpeg
Ten days and only ONE mosquito bite! God smiled on this trip for me too.
That guy had walked his dog and was picking up the “deposit” the morning we left. Got home last night and my own bed felt like a cloud! Will enjoy the big shower here soon, the one at the cottage is pretty small. Funny how you miss some of the day today things we have at home until we head home.

you need to share your secrets in getting only one bite. That would never happen for us.

that looks like some good fishing in that lake.

Funny side note, swimming in the Mediterranean Sea was fun. The salinity is higher than the ocean so with little effort you easily float.

I fully agree on the shower at home. We have a shower wall panel. Like a car wash but for your body. Only one hotel has ever beaten it. The Sheraton at Torrey Pines in the suite. That shower had two wall panels and an overhead. Beyond amazing.

I’m halfway across the atlantic as I write this. Using my free TMO inflight internet.

A small layover in IAD then a direct back to SMF. Long travel day. Thankfully we have lounge access at airports to ease the strain of flying.

I’m looking forward to cooking again. I miss it.

No secret to the one bite vacation, they just weren’t around! The wind was predominantly coming off the lake, just high enough for the trees to sing and blow the critters away. Had it backed and come from the woods? They would have carried us away!

was challenging, I was very happy to get back to my own kitchen even though I have not done anything yet. Just finished putting things away and begun laundry for my sister in law to take back when they go next week.

I couldn’t do 6 on that cooktop or in that stove. Idk how you do that.

Lots of charm at the place. And probably lots of family memories too.

Sure you could! It’s all about arrangment and timing. The fish is always the hard one but, I did two with an orange sauce and the third (Grandson is not a big fan of citrus) went on after.
And, yes, the memories are great!

Wave to me as you approach/depart IAD. I'm only a few miles away and there's a pretty good chance you'll go right over my neighborhood. Safe travels.

You should be home by now, let me be the first to say welcome back. Have enjoyed your vacation threads, maybe you can get Chris to combine them all into one thread?

I spent many Septembers at the inlaws house on Rambling Road, Vienna VA. I really enjoyed those trips and love that area

@Chris Allingham , your thoughts on this type of a combine?

Yesterday was exhausting. Was up for 27 hours straight and 15 hours of flights. Still trying to adjust time zones but coming back to CA is easier so far then going to Rome.

I have at least two more threads to post. One on the old city of Barcelona and the other, our Vatican tour. I hope to have some free time two write those and add pics.

I’m glad you enjoyed the posts. I was unsure if members would enjoy them or not or find interest in them.

This was my first time in IAD. That place needs modernizing. Way too undersized for its current load. Not that I’m a world traveler and rate airports but of the many I’ve experienced, the 1960’s build needs serious modifications and amenities.

Don’t know if you saw, but we did wave. And I paid attention to note we flew over Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, Utah, NV and a few other place that members here are from.

Made me realize and reaffirm that we need to see and enjoy more of the USA.

Agree. I'm comfortable with Dulles, but that's because it's home. But it is grossly out of date. Aside from expansion and some moving walkways, not much has changed since the 1980's.
