Howdy folks! So again working on some healthy cooks! We had all kinds of plans for this halibut but a the end we just did a simple easy dinner!

Chunk of butt we pulled out of the freezer Friday nite! Love that I caught this in May and threw it in freezer bags... Came out perfect, no freezer burn..no trimming seasoned with some weber Boston bay, Dill, green onion and butter!

Today was another "honey due list" day!!! Several things line up but this was pretty cool! Some table legs and ends my wife picked up at Home Depot, all glued up and stained!

Served up with steamed veggies and Chilled Vodka(probably defeats the purpose huh?) oh well!

Thanks much have a great work week!

Take care!

It's getting pretty fishy looking up there,
with some really pretty fish cooking!

Great job Morgan on the halibut and candle stands!

I see you finally got out the Halibut you wanted earlier. Have you ever caught one? I've seen shows where they caught one and it was as big as the side of a good sized shed. One of them would probably feed a hole town.
In your opinion, which was better the prawns and scallops or the Halibut? They both look awesome!
Great job on the honey dews too:) priorities right?;)

Great job Morgan, on all three tasks:)

Looks very nice. I should grill more white fish, too.

I've grilled Atlantic wolffish several times, an it comes out great. Will have to try Halibut.

Thanks folks for the great reply! Fish was good! Not a bit of fishy taste whatsoever! I did over cook a bit (got to talking on the phone and not paying attention!)

Boy gene tuff question! I guess I would have to say the halibut(beer battered halibut tacos are my favorite)
And I have caught a few halibut in my time! This guy was about 120 ...put a dent in the freezer space in May!

HOLY MACKEREL!!!....I mean....HALIBUT!!:)

I've never caught any fish more than 40 lbs. I'd have to buy a bigger freezer and eat A LOT more fish, not that I have a problem with that;) I bet after realling that trash can off of the bottom I'd want to call it a day, well probably a night also.

You had me at beer...oh and battered. Wow Morgan, awesome pic and pics of both of your cooks too. Thanks for sharing. I think I can catch your bait for you:)

Just a question- is it a good thing that fish meat does not taste like fish?

I usually simmer halibut in water, with some salt and a drop of vinegar added, and then served with carrots, potatoes and a tablespoon of melted butter.

This might be based on some sort of different cultures matters, but none the less, I like my fish cooks to taste like fish.
What is your ideal fish meal? What should it taste like, if not fish?
I mean no harm, I'm just curious.

Geir, I think fish taste different depending on where they come from. For instance, I've had Atlantic salmon and Pacific salmon, two totally different tastes. The Pacific has a much more tame flavor for lack of a better analogy. Plus, I feel the prep and processing, storage and cooking style all influence the flavor. There are so many different species and so many ways. I have heard that if your seafood smells fishy at the store, it's not fresh.
I would have to say, my favorite way to enjoy fish is broiled with a little lemon pepper seasoning. And her on the Chesapeake, we love our blue crab, so a nice cake on the side wouldn't hurt my feelings😊. We steam a lot of our seafood, we don't boil here.
I think it's interesting to read and hear how people from all over prepare food, gives us new ideas. Food and a smile are the international languages, in my opinion.

Geir no offense taking whatsoever! I somehow knew that question would come up! I think Gene hit it right on. The "fishy" taste I was referring to would be fish that was not put up correct or unkept perhaps! This particular halibut tasted as fresh as the day it came out of the water and was very very mild!

There are 100 ways to cook halibut (or any white fish) and to each his own I suppose! I care for my fish an game as to suite my family's needs and try real hard I make sure they have no "unpleasant" tastes associated with it!

Hope that helps!

Gene thanks for your input! You were pretty much right on! I steam my crab and sometimes prawns and clams and totally agree! Love me some MD blue crab too! Was down in May and was pretty darn good stuff!

Take care!
