Drying wood chips

I guess "Barbecuing" is the best board since that's what I use chips for...

I was given roughly 10 pounds or so of fresh cherry chips. What would be the best way to dry them? On disposable aluminum pans in low oven heat? I don't think they need to be completely dried out, just dry enough so they won't get moldy.

I'm sure the oven would work if you're in a hurry. I was thinking of something like a burlap bag or a large nylon mesh bag; fill it up and hang it out in the sun. Anything that would let the air through should work fine.
